Breastfeeding Stories

Several of our MOBI mothers have shared their stories about their breast-feeding journey. Through their stories, moms share their disappointment, but also hope and how MOBI has helped them redefining success.

If you want to share your breasfeeding story with us, please email it to us at mobi-owner@yahoogroups.com together with some pictures of you and/or your child and we will be happy to publish it on our website.

Caroline's Story

I had a pretty uneventful pregnancy until 36 weeks when I developed preeclampsia. I was due to be induced at 38 and a half weeks, but went into labor on my own the day before the induction. During the labor/delivery and for 24 hours afterwards, I was on a drug called Magnesium Sulfate.  My OB told me I could not breastfeed while I was on the Mag. Not being able to breastfeed right away was a deep disappointment to me. Read more...

Cheryl's Story

To be honest, I'm not sure if we're having really having breastfeeding problems or just perceived problems. Gabriel was a drowsy newborn, so didn't gain weight or clear off the tiny bit of jaundice fast enough to suit the ped's office. They wanted me to give him formula AND water. Read more...

Jenn's Story

I need to share something that has been on my mind. I have been reading about the skin to skin contact helping increase milk supply. I tried it. I did. My dd was all snugly with me. The next time I held her, she rooted on my and cried. I cannot nurse her. My ped says it is a danger to her life. Read more...

Adeline's Story

My name is Adeline and I am 29 years old. In 2009 I got pregnant for the first time and during my pregnancy I became very enthusiastic about the idea of breastfeeding my baby. It was something I was really looking forward to. However my breasts were very small (not even an A-cup!) I looked online and all that I could find was that size does not matter, every woman can breastfeed. I thought I would just have to put the baby at the breast and that would be it! Read more...

Lisa's Story

I had Eli in March of '97. I always knew I would breastfeed, and was extremely partisan on the issue before he was born. However, by the time he was 5 days old, he was dehydrated, had very few pees and no poops at all. Read more...

Naomi's First Story

I really, really wanted to breastfeed. My breasts are incredibly small, and I was so excited about them finally being "useful" in some way. And I did everything "right": While still pregnant, I bought and read the La Leche League’s Womanly Art of Breastfeeding (a book I grew to hate later). Read more...

Naomi's Second Story

I've been off this list for more than six months and I see there are lots of new names here, but for those who knew me I thought I should write in and report on how things went with my second baby, who was born November 8. Read more...

Susan's Story

My husband took him to the nursery while they finished the c-section and took me to recovery. My parents came in about that time and I got to see them in recovery. I was smiling and talking. Just in a total high over the whole thing (drug induced, I'm sure). Read more...

Misty's Story

I learned there is no ideal situation, there maybe or will be some sort of problem or situation to deal with, and it's okay. I don't have to feel bad or give myself such a hard time about it. Also, it's all about perspective. Read more...
